Bald Eagle

We have been learning about American symbols in our study of Presidents and America.  We learned that the bald eagle is the bird of our country.  Mrs. Rider shared a link to a live eagle nest cam.  We have had so much fun watching the eagle take care of her eggs.  She has laid 3 eggs, the last egg was laid on Feb. 24 and it takes 30-35 days for the eggs to hatch.  Keep watching as they may hatch during Spring Break.

THE AFTER CHRISTMAS TREE

During the winter break, Mr. Blanck went to the tree recycling center at McDonald Commons and picked out a nice tree and put it outside our classroom. Upon returning from winter break we read the story, THE AFTER CHRISTMAS TREE by Linda Wagner Tyler.  This books tells a story about a family decorating their tree with bird feeders for the birds. We made bird feeders using Crisco and bird seed and then hung them on the tree. The birds are enjoying the treats.

Kindergarten Tree

The kindergarten students collected $157.00 in pennies to purchase a tree for our school.  The children voted on what type of tree and the sugar maple won.  They selected a location by voting on three different locations.  The tree is planted on the hill by the circle drive.  We are excited to see it grow and changes over the seasons.
