Reader's Theater

We just finished our second Reader's Theater!!  It is so exciting to watch the children act out the stories over and over again.  They love it!  We have done Pete the Cat and Brown Bear Brown Bear.

Getting to Know You

Each child wrote their name and what they liked in our "Getting to Know You activity.  This was a great way to include the  star words of the week were "I" and "like".

Names

We have done many activities using our names.

After writing the daily message we would call on a child to come up and circle the letters in their name.  I would write their name in one color and they would use the corresponding color to circle all the letters in their name that was in the message.

What is Science?

We read, What Is Science? by Rebecca Kai Dotlich.  Then each child illustrated a picture of what science means to them?  We have some blooming scientist in our class.

PETE THE CAT

We have had so much fun reading, Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes and Pete the Cat Rocking in My Schools Shoes. Eric Litwin and James Dean, the author and illustrator, were recently at Joseph Beth's Bookstore.  They sang, danced, and read the stories. They were so entertaining!  It was so exciting to meet them.
